Adopter Requirements & Information
Most of our cats are to be adopted to indoor only homes --- research has shown that indoor only animals have fewer injuries and illnesses and tend to have the longest lifespans. There are times where it may be deemed best for a cat to be an indoor/outdoor pet, or even a barn cat. We ask that adopters be open and honest when adopting, and we will help you find a suitable pet for your lifestyle and needs.
Adoption placements are intended to be a commitment for the lifetime of your new pet -- please consider this when you choose to adopt. Kittens easily find new homes, while adults sometimes sit in shelters for the rest of their lives.
All of our animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped, dewormed, combo tested for FIV/FeLV individually or via mom if we have a whole litter (negative unless otherwise listed) and given at age appropriate vaccines prior to adoptions being finalized.
All animals adoptions are non-refundable. We do our best to do health checks on animals, but there are no guarantees for the health of an animal. Moving to a new home adds stress for an animal, and this sometimes makes them more susceptible to illnesses with that change. We always suggest a vet visit in the first two weeks of ownership to get established with a new pet.
In the unfortunate event that your must rehome your animal, you MUST reach back out to our rescue first -- you may not give away your adopted animal for any reason per our contract.
We do require the animals currently in your home be currently vaccinated unless otherwise recommended by your veterinarian.
We believe that young kittens do best in home with other (young) cats or a buddy their own age. They learn good behavior from each other, preventing the formation of a "kittenzilla" or single kitten syndrome.
Adopters must be 21 or over.
If you rent your home, please be prepared to show proof that animals are permitted in your lease.
